Project Type
Photography
In this assignment, students are challenged to use photography as a tool for social commentary — not just to document reality, but to interpret, critique, and influence it. Students will develop a visual narrative that brings attention to a social, cultural, or environmental issue, using photography to evoke emotion, provoke thought, and inspire dialogue.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand photography’s role in visual advocacy and social critique
- Develop a concept-driven photographic series on a relevant issue
- Apply visual storytelling techniques to convey emotion, message, and meaning
- Combine composition, lighting, and post-processing with intentionality
- Reflect critically on the impact of visual media in society
