STARS CAMPS FAQs

With all that is going on, should I just cancel now?

If you have registered and decide that you are not comfortable sending your child to camp, we will work with you to make the best arrangement for your family.  Options include holding your funds for the 2023 season or refunding within our standard policies. We want you to feel comfortable and confident with your decision to have your child spend time with us this summer.

Will you require masks?

We will follow with the most recent guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control.

Will I be able to travel with my child

You are welcome to travel with your children, and stay close to camp activities.

Will I be able to see my child during camp activities

In order to provide an environment in which our STARS Camp trainees are immersed in the learning and fun of the program, we do not allow you to join your child during camp activities.

How will I be able to contact my child

STARS Camp trainees have designated time to communicate with family and friends in their schedules:
• in the morning when they are getting ready for their busy day and
• in the evening before they go to bed.


You can also follow our daily progress via our private social media channel.

When will be we notified if you decide to cancel the camp?

If any changes need to be made to camp plans, families will be notified at least 2 weeks prior to the start of the camp.

What is my deadline to cancel and get a refund?

Expedition 23 cancellation policy as follows:
• Up to May 4 , 2022 - 25% of tuition will be forfeited
• Up to June 4, 2022  - 50% of tuition will be forfeited
• After June 4 2022 , forfeit full tuition
• Please allow 4-6 weeks to receive your refund.

​• Campers who leave during the Camp program will not receive a refund.

If your child leaves for any reason after checking into camp, we do not issue a refund.

Request for cancellation due to illness, accident, death in the family requires documentation. Upon receipt of documentation, a full refund will be issued. Verification must be received no later than 30 days after the scheduled departure date.

How will I be able to contact my child

What are the sleeping arrangements?

Trainees will be roomed with other trainees of the same gender, same age group and doing the same program (e.g. Space Camp 9-11 year old boys will be roomed together). If your child booked and is attending Camp with a friend of the same gender, they will be roomed together.

Space Camp resident assistant crew trainers are housed in rooms adjacent to student sleeping quarters.

Does my child have to stay overnight at camp?

We find that having children stay overnight drastically reduces homesickness. Allowing a child to be picked up and dropped off daily would cause a great deal of disruption to the team. Additionally, STARS CAMP can have some very long days – often going from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Therefore, children must stay on-site during our residential camp programs.

What if my child gets homesick?

The key to dealing with homesickness is to prepare the child in advance. Some suggestions are:

  1. Ask a close friend or relative to register for the same camp sessions your child is attending.

  2. Have your child spend the night with friends or relatives.

  3. Discuss what camp will be like before your child leaves home and discuss any concerns.

  4. DO NOT tell your children that you will rescue them if they do not like camp.

  5. Assure your child of your love.

  6. Do not go into great detail about what the child may be missing at home.

If, despite all efforts, your child does become homesick:

  1. Acknowledge your child’s feelings.

  2. Reassure your child of your love.

  3. Reassure your child that camp is an opportunity for children to grow, mature and gain independence.

  4. Do not mention how much you miss your child.

  5. Do not let them know you are homesick for them, too!

What if my child gets sick?

All team members are first aid certified and RNs are on site around the clock when Space Camp is in session.

Dining at Camp

Campers will be provided with breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks through out the day. Please ensure to provide any allergy requirements when you submit your child's registration information to ensure that your child's needs are met accordingly.

Our Camp students will be offered hot meals consisting of protein, starch, vegetable as well as the option for an alternative item. Salads, fruit cups and ice cream will be available for all lunch and dinner meals.

Will you pick up my child from the Airport?

Trainees will be picked up from Dubai International airport on the day their program starts and returned to Dubai International airport the day their program ends. If you wish to pick up your child in the U.S. or drop your child off in the U.S. you will need to make prior arrangements with Camp Director info@mapp.education

What if an item is lost at camp?

We encourage trainees to leave valuables at home. STARS CAMP is not responsible for missing or lost items during camp. Please label all items for ease in returning lost items to your trainee.

Who can come to STARS Camp?

STARS CAMP Expedition 23 is for students age 15-18.

What about refunds?

If your child leaves for any reason after checking into camp, we do not issue a refund.

If you decide that camp is not the right answer for your child this Summer, we will be offering a KWD 150 discount for next summer for those who would like to roll their registration forward to Summer 2023.

How will you handle shower times?

Because we have limited the campers per room, they will share their room and bathroom with one other camper.

How do I request to cancel my child's camp?

Please email info@mapp.education with any requests to change camp dates, cancel a camp and hold funds, or cancel a camp for refund. Please refer any additional questions to info@mapp.education. Thank you for your continued support and interest in our programs.

How about activities?

We have worked hard to create additional cultural activies for trainees - including a visit to St. Augustine, America's Oldest City, Coco Beach, and Florida's Alligator Farm attractions and historical space sites.

Can I buy essentials and STARS Camp branded items this year?

Trainees will be provided with a Clothing Pack which includes 1x personalized Authentic Flight Suit and Space Camp set: t-shirt, shorts, hooded sweatshirt, sweatpants &backpack.

You can pre-order extra sets by reaching out to us. Orders will be distributed the first day of camp, depending on the item.
